Readers have asked me how I came up with the title Pastor and Professor, so I’ll answer with a true story. My older step-son wanted to have a horse as a 4-H project, so Doug and I happily bought a steady old rodeo horse named Willy and signed Michael up. Wanting to be useful, we volunteered to work the serving line at the Food Tent on our club’s assigned night. Because we were the ‘new kids on the 4-H block’ other parents were curious about us - where we lived, what we did for a living etc. At the time we both were working at Wilmington College, I as Campus Minister and Doug as Professor of Biology. As we headed back to the car after our shift was over Doug said, “I don’t think they know what to make of us, the pastor and the professor,” and instantly I knew I had just been given the title of a mystery series which takes place at a small Quaker college somewhere in southwestern Ohio!
